The current international recommendation is to avoid screen time(mobile,tv,tabs) till 2 years of age. Ideally, they should be spending time interacting with people, outdoor activities and playing with toys. This will help them in social and motor development. However, if it is unavoidable, remember to give very limited time in front of TV and make sure it is baby friendly content like animal names ,nursery rhymes, etc. These can boost vocabulary and expose babies to different things.

Screen time should never be used as an reinforcement while feeding kids. Always remember to switch off the TV after the show ends. Too much or inappropriate TV can interfere with healthy mental and physical development and lead to long lasting problems.

You as a parent should decide as to when and how much time baby can watch TV. Be a role model and don’t keep the TV ON unnecessarily just as background noise. Limit your TV time too when baby is actively wanting to play and interact with you
